In recent years, the threat of wildfires has become a reality for many communities across British Columbia. The summer of 2017 provided dramatic examples of the devastation that wild land fires can have when they quickly spread into nearby communities. This includes the unique threats to infrastructure that water and wastewater systems face, including damage to watersheds. This workshop is designed to provide water and wastewater professionals with an opportunity to learn about considerations regarding water infrastructure, before, during and after a fire event, mitigation strategies and tools that are available to communities.
